Abstract

Background and Objective: The aim of the research was to present strategies to promote resilience and sustainability of livelihoods in villages of Bostan Abad County under dry climatic conditions.
Materials and Methods: The research was descriptive-analytical and the field data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire. The information analysis unit was determined by 15 experts related to the subject. SWOT analysis was used in the inferential analysis.
Results: The potential of rural tourism and the possibility of diverse agricultural activities were identified as the most important internal strengths. The existence of job opportunities in the industrial towns of the county, the expansion of social services and the potential of rural tourism were identified as the most important key opportunities and the neglect of the agricultural sector compared to industry and services, the decline in the price of agricultural products and the lack of motivation of young people to work in agriculture were identified as the most important external threats. The proposed strategy for promoting resilience and sustainability of livelihoods in this region is the "growth and construction or development" strategy. The strategy of developing entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector using low-interest loans and microcredits was identified as the best offensive strategy.
Conclusion: The strategy of developing entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector using low-interest loans and microcredit as the most appropriate strategy will lead to livelihood diversification, stabilization of the rural population, and increased economic resilience.
