Abstract

Objectives: In this study, the effect of chemical fertilizer (NPK), biochar, biological fertilizer (NPK) and animal manure on the properties of basil plant (Ocimum basilicum L.) was studied.
Materials and methods: This experiment was conducted in three replications based on a randomized complete block design in 2018-2019. Experimental treatments: 100% chemical fertilizer (NPK), 50% chemical fertilizer (NPK), biochar, biofertilizer (NPK), animal manure, biochar + biofertilizer (NPK) + animal manure, 50% chemical fertilizer (NPK) +, biochar, 50% chemical fertilizer (NPK) + biofertilizer (NPK). 50% chemical fertilizer (NPK) + ،animal manure, 50% chemical fertilizer (NPK) + biochar + biofertilizer NPK + animal manure (Ch50%+Bio+NPK(b)+Manure).
Results: The best performance was the treatments (Ch50%+Bio+NPK(b)+Manure) in all investigated traits including plant height, shoot diameter, number of lateral branches, leaf fresh and dry weight, stem fresh and dry weight, shoot fresh and dry weight, number of leaves, inter-node distance, total fresh and dry weight per hectare, essential oil percentage, essential oil yield per hectare, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total phenol content, flavonoid content, DPPH, leaf nitrogen percentage, leaf phosphorus percentage, and leaf potassium percentage and the lowest was related to biochar
Conclusion: It can be said that the use of biological and organic fertilizers with a combination of 50% of NPK chemical fertilizers, in addition to increasing the yield in the studied traits, has been able to reduce the application of chemical fertilizers by half which keeps more health for humans and the environment.
