Background and objective: This study was carried out in order to investigate the changes of nitrogen efficiency indicators including absorption, consumption and productivity at different levels of organic and chemical fertilizers and also to compare the efficiency of nitrogen consumption to determine the best level of fertilizer on rosemary medicinal plant.
Materials and methods: The experiment was conducted using a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 16 treatments and three replications. The treatments were V (vermicompost at two levels of 5 and 15 t/ha), M (cow manure at two levels of 10 and 20 t/ha), and NPK (from urea, triple superphosphate, and potassium oxide (85% K) sources at two levels of 25:25:50 and 50:50:100 kg/ha).
Results: The highest plant height, leaf and biological yield, nitrogen uptake, nitrogen use efficiency, and nitrogen utilization efficiency were obtained from the combined application of 10 t/ha cow manure + N50P25K25 + 5 t/ha vermicompost.
Conclusion: The combined use of organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer is a suitable method to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, increase yield and improve the efficiency of nitrogen consumption in rosemary plants, and ultimately reduce environmental pollution due to the gradual release of elements.
