the objective of the present study was to investigate the effects of selenium and silicon application on nodulation, quantitative and qualitative yield of soybean in different intensities drought stress.
experiment was carried out as factorial based on R CBD with three replications in 2024. Facors experimental were included irrigation (full irrigation as control, irrigation withholding at flowering stage and irrigation withholding at pod formation and grain filling stage, , silicon and selenium foliar application (foliar application with water as control, 5 mg.L-1 selenium, 50 mg.L-1 silicon, both foliar application selenium and silicon).
Means comparision showed that severe water limitation decreased protein and oil content, whereas both application of silicon and selenium increased proline content (23%) and protein and oil content (13.4 and 9 %, respectively), in comparison with no foliar application of these elements. Also, maximum of the number and weight nodules per plant (52.41 and 0.425 g per plant, respectively) were obtained at both application of silicon and selenium. Under severe water limitation condition, both application of selenium and silicon increased relative water content (25%), total cholorophyll content (89%), grain filling period (18%), the and grain yield (34%) in comparison with no application of these elements in the same level of irrigation levels.
Based on the results of this study, application of selenium and silicon were able to increase grain yield of soybean under severe and moderate water limitation by improving nudulation, grain filling components and some traits such as relative water content, total cholorophyll and proline content.
