Abstract
In order to evaluate the some root traits in treated wheat with Mycorrhiza and Azospirillum, an experiment was conducted in the Research Station of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, Iran in 2012-13. The experimental design was factorial based on a completely randomized blocks design with three replications. The treatments include of Mycorrhiza fungi in three levels (no use of strain and using species Glomus intraradices and Glomus mosseae), bacteria Azospirillum lipoferum in the two-level (non-inoculated seeds and inoculated seed) and wheat cultivars in three levels, Chamran (bread wheat), Dena and Behrang (durum wheat) varieties. In this experiment, the root colonization percentage, diameter, surface area and density of wheat roots have been measured. The results showed that Azospirillum and Mycorrhiza increased root growth. Between cultivars, Chamran had 10% more efficient root system than the durum varieties. Integrated use of bacteria and fungi caused synergistic effect and showed 15% increase in root traits than their individual use. In general, the highest root colonization (54.96%), the root volume (2.73 cm3), root surface (27.48 cm2) and root density (0.088 g/cm3) were obtained from inoculation of C.V Chamran seeds with Azospirillum and G. mosseae strain and maximum of root dry weight (0.29 g) was obtained from inoculation of C.V Chamran seeds with Azospirillum and G. intraradices strain.
